Bloodwine

abwReview by: AngryPrincess

A social outcast Andrea is constantly tormented by life. Whether it be love, a lost boyfriend, or just some bitchy college school mates- there is always someone trying to snub or walk all over her. By a chance of luck Brandi, an old childhood friend transfers to her college and ends up Andrea’s new room mate. Finally things seem to be looking up for a change, or is this just the calm before the storm?

Brandi’s birthday is creeping up so Andrea wants to get her something special. She goes to a unique liquor store and at the salesman’s suggestion chooses a red wine that has been around for centuries over in Romania The store’s owner Carmilla was hoping Andrea would be the one indulging on the drink herself and is disappointed when she hasn’t. After Brandi ingests a few sips she starts to feel weird and thinks maybe she ate something bad.

Soon Brandi seems to be changing into a frail sick being who has no body heat and is a pale as a ghost. What was in that wine to make her so sick? Was she poisoned? Can she survive this ordeal or will she simply succumb to the dark side and become a creature of the night? I liked that this movie went with what it felt was right instead of the same old storyline. At least it was sort of different.

Vampire lovers will claim this movie as their own with no doubts, I loved when Brandi went to the campus clinic to get checked out that’s when things begin to fall in order of who she really is now. She has to accept it instead of doubting what she is now. Bloodwine was a fun, modern take on the children of the night that surprised me with it’s ability to hold my interest…I sat there solid as a rock loving this flick!
