News has come down today that Syfy’s surprising hit zombie series, Z Nation, has been picked up for a second season on the network. Syfy seems to be showing remarkable faith in the show by renewing while only in the middle of the first season. Read on for more details.
I know from talking with the series executive producer and showrunner Karl Schaefer the writers have plans for at least five seasons of the series. Its proven to be especially competitive on Friday nights, averaging just under 1.5 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 in live-plus-same day showings.
Z Nation comes to Syfy from producers The Asylum, the studio behind many of its popular b-movies that also run on Friday nights — including the Sharknado franchise.
