A few months ago I was lucky enough to be a featured extra in the upcoming movie, Potent Media’s Sugar Skull Girls. It was a great day and I met a lot of professional people. Throughout the day I had several interactions with a very lovely woman. She was buzzing around the set and taking on odd jobs like fetching dinner and helping all of the characters get into costume. It wasn’t until my time on set was almost over that one of the other crew members revealed her identity to me – Sharon Smyth Lentz.
Sharon Smyth Lentz played the role of Sarah Collins in the original “Dark Shadows” television series which lasted from 1966-1971, although her role was only featured in the first two seasons of the now iconic show. Her other noteworthy credits include a long-standing role as Susan Carter in Emmy nominated series, “Search For Tomorrow,” and lending her candid commentary to Dark Shadows: Behind the Scenes in 1991. And after a long hiatus, Sharon is back! She has become an important member of the Potent Media team and has helped with their horror/scifi films such as the short film Death Follows. She will also star in the upcoming “Roxsy Tyler’s Carnival of Horrors” send-off, Roxsy & Me. Outside of the Pennsylvania based production group, Sharon landed roles in the short films Stay Hidden and On A Country Road alongside Kip Weeks.
Recently, Mrs. Smyth Lentz has been making public appearances at horror and comic book conventions. It’s miraculous to see the cult following that still follows “Dark Shadows” over four decades later. I mean, did you know the show still has its own fan club? Obviously, the love for Sharon is still alive and well and I can see why. She was such a joy to be with on set, very nurturing, very personable, very professional.
With this in mind, I decided to contact Sharon in hopes that she would be open to answering some of your questions. And she said yes! So, if you’re like me and can’t fly out to conventions all over the country to meet up with her…this is your chance to ask her a question.
All you have to do is send an email to michael@horrorsociety.com. Include ASK SHARON in the subject line and make sure the body of your email contains your name, state, and question. You can submit more than one question, too. I will chose the best questions, hand them over to Sharon, and she will answer in an exclusive HorrorSociety.com interview. Question submissions will officially close out on August 9th; and the interview will follow sometime later.
And remember, Sharon cannot provide spoilers in regards to any of her current projects and I will not forward along any questions that are too personal in nature.
