Baesel was born in April of 1974 in California. He demonstrated a passion for acting at a young age and pursued training and education at a variety of locations. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School of Drama and has his BA in Theatre from UCLA. His love of acting and performing even led him to be a co-founder of the NY based group Theatre Mitzu.
His television achievements include guest spots on “The District” and “Cold Case” in 2003, a recurring role as Deputy Lewis Sirk in ABC’s scifi series “The Invasion” from 2005-2006, featured spots on “Without A Trace” and “Numb3rs” in 2007, and episodes of “CSI” from 2008-2009.
Horror fans will recognize Mr. Baesel as the title role in Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Behind the Mask was one of 2007’s biggest DVD releases. The film, written and directed by Scott Glosserman with David J. Stieve, is a mockumentary where Taylor and her camera crew film Leslie Vernon as he prepares his murder spree in hopes of becoming as prolific a killer as Michael, Freddy, and Jason. He, of course, has chosen his survivor girl and her “Ahab,” the man who protects her and will ultimately try to foil Leslie’s plans. On the night of a party in an abandoned house, Taylor and her crew must decide if they will document the massacre of a group of kids or try to stop Leslie from becoming a famous killing legend.
So, where is Nathan Baesel now?
Nathan has continued to work in small television and short film productions, but his biggest career highlight in recent years is his work as a post production coordinator on various docu-series and reality television shows. Shows he’s worked on include “IRT: Deadliest Roads” in 2011, “1000 Ways to Die” from 2011-2012, “Storage Wars: New York” in 2013, “Storage Wars: Texas” from 2011-2013, “Appalachian Outlaws” in 2014, “Storage Wars” from 2011-2014, and the upcoming “Barry’d Treasure” due out in 2015.
However, with talks of a sequel – Before the Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon – hopefully being made sometime in the future, fingers crossed it won’t be too long until we see Nathan lacing up his horror boots again.
