Here she is… Miss Friday the 13th… Catherine Parks was born in December of 1956 in Tampa, Florida. During her high school years she was a pageant girl and she would eventually compete in the Miss America pageant in 1977. She was runner up! Her first mainstream role was a bit part in the scifi-thriller Looker in 1981. She then entered her most popular year career-wise to date; with a guest spot on “The Love Boat,” “Three’s Company,” and a recurring role as Mitzi on “Days of Our Lives.” Obviously her biggest achievement in 1982 was booking the role of Vera in Friday the 13th Part 3. Vera is one in a group of friends who are on a weekend getaway near Camp Crystal Lake. Vera is visibly stunning, but this doesn’t save her from the wrath of Jason Voorhees. He shoots her in the eye with a harpoon gun.
After her supporting role in Friday the 13th Part 3, Catherine continued landing roles on film and television, but none that are important to this article until she had a guest spot on “Tales From the Darkside” in 1986. Then, in probably the biggest highlight in her career, Parks landed a supporting role in the cult comedy Weekend at Bernie’s. Her follow up credits include an episode of “Quantum Leap” in 1989 and a supporting role in the 1993 thriller, Body of Influence.
So, where is Catherine Parks now?
Like many actors and actresses, her career seemed to fade away in the mid-90s. Although, her Wikipedia page states that she is still pursing an acting career! Still, she was interviewed and lent her commentary to His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th in 2009 and Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th in 2013. Glad to see she is still so proud of her part in the franchise.
