Word has come in a short while ago that we will indeed be seeing another Friday the 13th film and just when to expect it! Paramount has set a date of Friday, March 13th, 2015 as the date Jason will return. Read on for the sparse details.
The details are sketchy at best as of now. There’s no official word on a title yet or if it will be a sequel to 2009’s Friday the 13th remake or not. The 2009 remake performed very well at the box office with a $ 91 million take, so it would only make sense for the new film to be a sequel from that. There’s also no word on whether or not Derek Mears will be returning as Jason Voorhees.
It is expected that Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes will again be returning to produce the film. There have been rumors of a possible found footage approach to the next film but nothing has been substantiated.
