Per Deadline, Lava Bear and producer David S. Goyer have hired Jason Zada to direct The Forest, the Japan-set supernatural horror film. This is the project that had been known as the untitled David Goyer, as the Man Of Steel and The Dark Knight trilogy scribe hatched the story. The project has a rewrite from Sarah Cornwell. The film takes place in the Aokigahara forest of Japan. Goyer and Lava Bear will produce.
This is the feature directorial debut for Zada, who has helmed inventive commercials, music videos and the interactive short films including Take This Lollipop, which got 7 million YouTube views when it surfaced in 2011.
The Forest will begin production by next summer, with Tory Metzger overseeing it.
