You’re about to get possessed. In the upcoming indie horror comedy Bad Exorcists, filmmaker Kyle Steinbach throws awkward teenagers against a demonic possession. Think Superbad meets the Exorcist.
Charlie, Matt and Dana are about to finish high school with little fanfare. In a last-ditch effort to earn their classmates’ respect, the trio aims to win the local horror film festival. Things might finally be going their way—until their attempt to film an exorcism scene results in the demonic possession of their lead actress. The boys are in for a raucous and hilarious weekend as they try to save the girl and somehow finish their film, all while navigating the treacherous world of high school.
Bad Exorcists is 100 percent filmed, the team behind the movie have now launched a Kickstarter to raise $20,000 that will go towards the finishing funds. Check out the interview and the link below!
Horror Society: For those that don’t know, what is Bad Exorcists about?
Bad Exorcists is about a trio of awkward teens who intend to win a horror festival by making their own movie, but wind up getting one of their friends possessed in the process.
HS: What was the inspiration for the Bad Exorcists?
It started out as a riff on found footage horror movies, but grew organically into a fully-realized story. In the beginning (and in the end), we just wanted to do something that would make us laugh.
HS: Who doesn’t love a good comedy/horror film – how much trouble does our cast get into?
It gets pretty wild. These are smart kids, but common sense goes out the window when you’re facing down an immortal demonic entity. Without giving away spoilers, these kids whiff on everything from girls and parties to proper exorcism technique.
HS: Where do you all the funds go, if you reach your guys goal?
We are seeking $20,000 for color correction, sound design, music composition and visual effects.
HS: Is there anything, that you want to talk about that you’re just dying to tell everyone?
This movie has something for everyone, but horror fans will particularly find a lot to love. Please support independent film and our Kickstarter!
You can check out the link to their Kickstarter below. I’ve got to thank the team for taking the time to talk about their project.
