2008 – Mel Ferrer, who appeared in the films “Blood & Roses,” “City of the Walking Dead” and “The Hands of Orlac,” passed away at the age of 90.
2002 – Prolific producer/writer Herman Cohen, passed away at the age of 76. He produced some of American International’s earliest pictures including “I Was a Teenage Werewolf,” “Blood of Dracula” and “How to Make a Monster.”
1979 – Jim Hutton, father of Timothy Hutton, who appeared in the films “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” and “The Psychic Killer,” passed away at the age of 45.
1969 – Leo Gorcey who was leader of the Bowery Boys, and who appeared with Bela Lugosi on two occasions in “Spooks Run Wild” and “Ghosts on the Loose,” passed away at the age of 51. He was born on June 3, 1917.
1956 – Leslie Nielson’s uncle, Jean Hersholt who appeared in the films “The Cat Creeps,” “Mark of the Vampire” and “The Mask of Fu Manchu,” passed away at the age of 69.
