Interview: BonJo! aka Scott Suloff

Are you a frequent horror convention attendee? Have you been to Blood On The Beach or Monster Mania, perhaps? If you have, then more than likely you’ve caught a peak of BonJo The Clown. Ya know, the pale, fanged, clown on stilts? People have really gotten a kick out of him! I’ve seen him twice now, but – I guess it’s the Napoleon complex – I’ve always been too intimidated to go say hi and take a picture with him. So, I decided that interviewing him and introducing him to the readers here at Horror Society would be a perfect way to break the ice! Read my interview with BonJo The Clown aka Scott Suloff below!

Can you introduce yourself to readers? Tells us about yourself.

S: I’m Scott Suloff. I live in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. I work on my clown stuff almost all year around and I enjoy hanging with my friends and dirt track racing.
Most people will recognize you immediately as BonJo! Can you tell me how the concept of this character came about?
S: In 2007 I woke up and wanted to be a clown. BonJo can be the nicest, sweetest clown and then in a matter of seconds he can turn into this crazy clown. The reason why my clown’s name is BonJo is because it’s very simple and I wanted kids to be able to say it.
I’ve seen you at two conventions now. I’ve always been slightly intimidated. Ironically, it seems like people are really drawn to you, sometimes more than the celebs at the cons. Are you surprised that people have embraced you so much?
S: When I first started to be the clown that I put together, I knew it was gonna be a hit, but I never thought it was gonna be a huge as it is now. I love being around people and cameras.
Can you tell me about Halloween Park? I see you posting this quite often on your personal pages.
S: Halloween Park is a haunted attraction in Strinestown, Pennsylvania that I will be working at this haunting season. I’m the midway clown – I am out with the costumers and I tend to get a little wild and chase them around. It’s 23 dollars for 4 attractions. Some haunts are 25 dollars to 35 dollars, but they lowered the price to 23 dollars and wanted to be the haunt that familys can afford and have a good time! www.halloweenpark.com
You’re starting to get into acting now too. Was this a gradual transition through being BonJo or is it a dream you always had?
S: I’ve always wanted to do some kind of acting, but when I started going to convention and seeing how well BonJo is liked, I knew I would get the chance to be apart of films and do what I love.
Are there any convention appearances or films that you definitely have booked that you can notify fans and readers about?
S: I’m doing a film with Moongoyle Entertainment called Altered Evil.
Is there anything else in the world of BonJo or Scott Suloff that you’d like to share with us?
S: I would like to say to everyone in the haunt industry ‘Perform At You’re Best’ and maybe get yourself some gigs or some films.
Favorite horror film?
S: The Halloween movies. I love Michael Myers.
