weden has plunged into chaos when mysterious attacks ensue across its cities in The Unthinkable, the debut feature film from director Victor Danell arriving on DVD and On Demand on August 3 from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the Magnet Label. The disaster-thriller is a test of survival, showcasing what one man will risk to protect those he loves and the lives of the innocent.

Haunted by his troubled upbringing and the regret of leaving an old flame behind, Alex (Christoffer Nordenrot, A Man Called Ove) is an accomplished musician who is dedicated to his work. Living in Stockholm in the midst of Midsomer, Alex is shocked when violent attacks erupt across the country, taking the life of his mother. While returning to his childhood village to attend her funeral, TV, internet and telephone networks begin to go down, causing a communications blackout for most of Sweden. As chaos and confusion continue to grow and the threat of a chemical weapon is discovered, Alex must reconnect with Anna (Lisa Henni, “Midnight Sun”), the woman he once loved, and his estranged father Bjorn (Jesper Barkselius, “(Re)volt”) to determine who is behind the attacks and how they can escape the inevitable crisis. Helmed by director Victor Danell, a core member of the Swedish film collective, Crazy Pictures, The Unthinkable showcases a suspenseful and emotional journey that forces its characters to experience unimaginable national carnage and come to terms with the pain of their past.

The Unthinkable will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $26.98 and On Demand via Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, FandangoNOW, and more on August 3 from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the Magnet Label. The film is produced by John Nordling (Let Me In) and Emil Wiklund (Swoon), and also stars Pia Halvorsen (“We Got This”) and Ulrika Bäckström (The Unemployed).

Synopsis
Sweden wakes up to a state of emergency following the bombing of a major bridge in Stockholm. Before anyone realizes what’s behind the collapse, a series of unexplained attacks take place around the country. Alex (Christoffer Nordenrot), a successful pianist whose controlled existence is upturned when his mother dies in a suspected terror attack, returns to his childhood village to attend the funeral. There, he must reconcile with both his father (Jesper Barkselius) and his old flame, Anna (Lisa Henni), who he has desperately been trying to forget. As old feelings come back to the surface, more mysterious attacks plunge Sweden into chaos and confusion. The Unthinkable is a disaster-thriller about time running out and protecting what matters most.
