Boy’s Club – Feature Film Project in Late-Stage Development

Boy’s Club – (Horror/Thriller) Boy’s Club is Don’t Breathe (2016) meets John Wick (2014)! This single-location horror follows Naya, former victim of sex-trafficking, who returns to the filthy nightclub where she was abused to exact her revenge on the owners, only to discover that hidden in bowels of the club is a secret lab that churns out nightmarish “Dead Girls”, or Young Women who have been injected with a serum that prevents them from dying, so that they can be tortured, murdered, and revived in an endless horrific loop by the club’s clientele. Naya must free the Dead Girls, destroy the lab, and escape the club, all while being hunted by Vic, the owner of the club and the creator of the Dead Girl Program, who is hell-bent on capturing Naya so that he can turn her into the ultimate “Dead Girl” for his own pleasure.

This project will be directed by actress, writer, producer, stunt-woman, and director Jenna Kanell. Jenna’s short film (that she wrote and directed) titled “Max and the Monster” opened the Austin Film Festival (2018) and a feature film that she acted in, The Front Runner, with Hugh Jackman, Vera Farmiga and J.K. Simmons, closed out the Austin Film Festival that same year! She’s also a union actor and stunt performer who has appeared in numerous independent films such as Terrifier and studio films such as The Bye Bye Man and can now be seen in the popular Disney+ series Wanda/Vision!

Jenna’s perspective on the film will take a familiar genre (horror/action) and redirect it through a fresh female gaze, where the characters are more than their trauma and the cinematic style plays into their power rather than mere sexuality.

Mitch Smith Media is also extremely excited to announce that we have partnered with Buffalo 8 (https://buffalo8.com/) to help us develop and produce this project, as well as Forest Road Finance (https://www.forestroadco.com) who have joined as a partial financier for Boy’s Club.

Boy’s Club is a haunting tale that examines what it means to be human, how ugly people can become, and how strong we must be to overcome our own, personal demons.
