Continuing with The Lashman theme lately, I bring you the latest interview here at HorrorSociety with actress Kaylee Williams. She has a ton of new films that are coming out this year or that she is currently working on. Click here to view her IMDB page, where you can look at all her past and present work. Ms. Williams was kind enough to answer a few questions for me. So, read the interview below and see what she has to say!
Let’s chat about The Lashman. It’s been getting a lot of press recently. What originally attracted you to this film? Was it the script?
Kaylee: It was actually everything about the project that attracted me to it! The script was just so much fun and I loved reading it, and the character that I played was a bit different than what I normally play. And different is good. :-) Plus, there was such a great group of people attached to the project that there was just no way to turn down the role.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing the finished product! I’m very happy that it’s been getting so much press, that’s awesome. People from all over the world are talking about it :-)
What was your favorite moment working on set of The Lashman? I’m sure something really funny had to have happened at some point.
Kaylee: You know, I have to say that the entire shoot was such a great experience. Everyone was wonderful to work with. I had a lot of fun with this project.
I actually made friends with a leaf bug, believe it or not! Haha. During the night shoots, he would come out and land on me. He had a very distinguished rip mark on his wing that made him stand out from all the other leaf bugs that were around. So I was able to recognize him and I swear it was the same bug every time. He sat on my arm or leg and just sorta chilled with me in between scenes. I named him Charlie, lol.
I just announced here on HorrorSociety that a new horror anthology, Mugworth: The Real Christmas is in preproduction. Coincidentally, you’re in this film as well. Is there the slightest bit of information you can give us at this point, or is everything still ‘under wraps?’
Kaylee: I’m actually unfortunately no longer able to work on that project, which I’m very bummed about. I was very much looking forward to working with director Marc Fernandez, and actresses Asa Hope and Eilis Cahill. I wish them all the best with the project! There are so many great people involved so I know it will be a huge success.
I’ve spoken with your costars of Scream Queen Campfire, DeVanny Pinn and Scarlet Salem. There are so many upcoming scream queens in this film. How does it feel being one of the new group of women to carry on the legacy of a ‘scream queen?’
Kaylee: I feel very honored that people consider me a Scream Queen :-)
Did you ever plan on getting dubbed a ‘scream queen,’ or was it just something that happened?
Kaylee: It just happened! The French website CinemaFantastique was the first to dub me a Scream Queen back in November of 2009.
Are you open to doing big Hollywood films or would you rather stick to the independent circuit?
Kaylee: Of course I am open to doing big Hollywood films! I would love to have that experience, that would be amazing. I mean, I don’t aspire to be famous or anything, that’s for sure. I like my privacy way too much to be famous. But it would be a lot of fun to get to see how a big Hollywood set works. Hopefully one day I will get that opportunity. Right now I’m working my way up.
I have to say that I do love doing independent films though! I feel like there are a lot of restrictions in Hollywood, whereas in indie filmmaking there is so much more freedom and creativity. I just want to be a part of great films that people are going to enjoy watching.
But as for my career goals, I honestly just want to be able to make a living doing what I love. That’s my ultimate goal.
You have so many projects coming out in 2011. Is there any particular film you’re excited about more than the others?
Kaylee: 2011 is definitely looking to be a busy year and I’m so thrilled about that! I love what I do, so I feel blessed that I have been given all of these opportunities.
As for playing favorites, I can’t do that. I’m excited about every project that I’m involved with. There are so many different characters that I will be getting to portray this year, and I can’t wait to start working.
Do you have any other exciting plans for 2011? Modeling? Directing? Anything?
Kaylee: I’m trying to focus mainly on my acting career right now. But I’m sure I’ll do some modeling in my free time. I like to keep my photos up to date. I also want to try and get back into stunt training. I’ve been slacking lately, but I love to do stunt work, so I really need to get back into that.
As for my other plans for 2011, I will be a guest at the Days of the Dead Convention in Indianapolis in July. Come out and see me! ;-)
If Ghostface from Scream fought The Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer, who do you think would win?
Kaylee: I hate to admit it, but……I’ve actually never gotten around to seeing “Scream” and it’s been so long since I’ve seen “I Know What You Did Last Summer” that I barely remember the villain. I know….It’s horrible to admit, especially since I’m a horror actress, haha. I’ve got a list a mile long of films that I need to see once I get some free time.
*Haha, I love her answer to the last question. She seems like a hoot! I also enjoyed her smiley faces for some reason; they brightened my night! Anyway, Kaylee will be in The Lashman, which is developing a larger fan base as the days go on. I’m so excited to see her in this film. She’s also got a lot more going on that she mentioned. I found her mentioning that she wants to do stunt work to be particularly interesting.
