Oh, Luchagore Productions. There are so many reasons why I love you, and probably one of the biggest ones is because you work in secret. You work hard, you work diligently, and you produce cinematic masterpieces while maintaining a humble and genuine nature. You know how the old saying goes. ‘Seek respect, not attention,’ and you certainly have mine! After producing 19 original short films, including worldwide hit El Gigante, and 2012’s “Choose Your Victim” web-series, Gigi Saul Guerrero and the team at Luchagore Productions are ready to premiere their next series to the horror community. It’ll all begin at the Morbido Film Festival when La Quinceañera receives a two day world premiere later this week.
Taking place in Mexico City, Mexico from October 26 to November 5, 2017, Morbido Film Festival will host the very first and double screening of Gigi Saul Guerrero’s La Quinceañera. All seven episodes of the series will be played back-to-back. The Saturday, October 28 screening will begin at 6:45pm and the Monday, October 30 screening will begin at 8:00pm. More information on the event can be found here: https://www.morbidofest.com/.
This brand new series will be a horrific, psychologically damaging drama-thriller you don’t want to miss!
In another huge milestone for Luchagore Productions, it was recently revealed that La Quinceañera was produced exclusively as a Stage 13 original as part of a new distribution deal with Warner Bros. Digital Networks. This is the big moment any independent film-maker dreams of and this partnership is about to make Gigi and her Vancouver, Canada based team blow up. Here’s your chance to meet them before they become Hollywood royalty, since cast and crew of the new movie will be in attendance during the Morbido Film Festival screenings. Look for Ms. Guerrero (director), Christine Davila (executive of Stage 13), Raynor Shima (producer), Luke Bramley (cinematographer) and Mathias Retamal (lead villain – Chavo Del Rio) at the Morbido Film Festival world premiere. Make sure to say hi and grab an autograph, too!
Synopsis: Timid yet self-assured fifteen-year–old Alejandra Santos’s life is about to change forever on the night of her Quinceañera. What was supposed to be her welcoming into womanhood becomes a massacre when a group of vengeful thugs, lead by the Del Rio crime family, swarm the party and slaughter her family in search of a missing bag of cash. Over the course of the next 24 hours, Alejandra’s safe world is violently disrupted, leaving her an orphan in the midst of rabid predators. With Abuela by her side, Alejandra must transform from a young girl who was looking to forge her own path in life, into a woman who uses the valuable lessons her elders passed down to fiercely defend her family legacy. At the heart of this story is Alejandra’s coming of age through a violent journey of revenge.
Based on the screenplay by Shane MacKenzie, La Quinceañera stars Mia Xitlali, Gabriela Reynoso, Gustavo Gómez, Patricia de León and Mauricio Mendoza.
