Actor and Horror Host William ‘Chilly Billy’ Cardille Has Passed Away.

A legend known for Night of the Living Dead and “Chiller Theater.”

Chilly Billy

We’ve lost another legend, folks.

Early this morning actor and horror host William “Chilly Billy” Cardille passed away at home, surrounded by his family and friends. His passing is attributed to complications stemming from cancer and pneumonia. He was 88-years-old.

William was an actor, most known for playing small parts in iconic films like Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead as well as the 1990 Night of the Living Dead Remake. He is perhaps most recognized, though, for his horror host work, a career that saw him hosting Pittsburgh’s Saturday night “Chiller Theater.” “Chiller Theater” was extremely well received by genre fans and this role eventually led William to be inducted into the Horror Host Hall of Fame and Rondo Award Hall of Fame.

A staple on WICV Channel 12 and WIIC Channel 11, Cardille appeared in a number of horror documentaries throughout his career and continued acting up until the very end. His last role was in the 2015 short comedy, Milkman, which won several awards at film festivals.

R.I.P. Chilly Billy. Your mark on the world of horror hosting will never be forgotten by old school horror fans and your legacy will live on in further generations who are lucky enough to stumble upon your work. All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolenses to your family, friends and ans.
