Godzilla and Kaiju fans alike, next weekend, G-FEST XXIII will invade Chicagoland for their 23rd annual 3-day convention! The show takes place July 15-17th at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, IL. Godzilla fans from around the world converge onto Chicago for the largest convention dedicated to Godzilla and Kaiju outside of Japan. North American Godzilla fans will be gathering July 15-17, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, IL for G-FEST XXIII. The special guests for G-FEST XXIII are Guests of Honor: Akira Takarada, who has appeared in a half century of Godzilla films: Gojira (1954) to Godzilla Final Wars (2004) as well as many other classics; Bin Furuya who was the original Ultraman as well as Ultra Garrison member Amagi in Ultra Seven; Actress, producer, and author Hiroko Sakurai who was Yuriko Edogawa in Ultra Q and Science Patrol member Akiko Fuji in the original Ultraman series; and Linda Miller star of King Kong Escapes as well as appearing in The Green Slime and on American television; In
Addition special guests Robert Scott Field, who appeared in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah as android M-11; director and assistant special effects director Yoshikazu Ishii whose work includes Ultraman Ginga, Gantz, and Daimajin Kanon and first assistant director of special effects on Godzilla: Final Wars; Hiroshi Sagae master maquette sculptor, and model maker for Godzilla and Gamera films and most recently did sculpting work on Ultraman Saga in 2012 as well as toy collectibles industries; August Ragone award-winning author of the highly-lauded “Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters” as well as the Special Features Producer for Shout Factory’s DVD releases of the classic Gamera films and the Ultra series; And special presenters Carl Craig star of Gamera vs Viras; Sojiro Uchino who played small roles in episodes of Ultra-Q and Ultraman, as well as playing one of the Boy Scouts (along with Carl Craig) in Gamera vs. Viras; Tony Isabella is the author of 1000 Comic Books You Must Read as well as an editor and writer at Marvel Comics, DC Comics and many other publishers and JD Lees, Editor and Publisher of G-FAN, North America’s longest running magazine devoted to Godzilla and other Japanese monsters..
G-FEST XXIII will feature panel discussions with the Guests of Honor and Special Guests along with fan movie historians. There will also be a giant dealers room, video game contests, video contests, art contest, modeling contest, costume contest & parade, special programming for young fans and more. Movie screenings will be held at the Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge, Illinois. This year includes the return of the “Double-Double Feature” on July 14th and Kaiju Features on July 15th and 16th including King Kong Escapes and Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend. Weekend admission tickets are $45.00 for adults, $25 for youth (15 and under). Daily admission (at the
