In 1973 the patients of Stephens Sanatorium were brutally murdered… 40 years later, it’s happening again!
1970s drive-in meets 80s video rental shop as the sequel to the cult classic DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT comes to Philly’s own hybrid rental and coffee shop, CineMug. The Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival presents a pre-release screening of DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT 2, directed by the son of the original film’s director, cult legend S.F. Brownrigg.
Tony Brownrigg continues the story of Stephens Sanatorium, where the slaughtering of Doctor Terrance Stephen and his patients occurred 43-years earlier. After a tragic accident involving his wife, Doctor William Matthews leaves New York City to start over as a psychiatrist at a small clinic in Texas called GreenPark. Unbeknownst to the staff and patients of the clinic, GreenPark is located in the same building as Stephens Sanatorium and their new resident, 74-year-old Sam Withers, was a patient of Doctor Stephen.
Upon Sam’s arrival things begin to unravel. Odd noises and strange visions begin to haunt the patients and the doctors. As things begin to turn violent, William struggles to discover what happened in the asylum before he, as well as everyone else, succumb to madness.
The screening is being held on Saturday, February 20th at 8:00 pm at CineMug, located at 1607 S. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA. Admission is free, and the venue is BYOB with a $3 corking fee. This is a one time only pre-release screening and the Philadelphia premiere of DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT 2.
DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT 2 is the third screening to promote the launch of the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival (#PUFF2016). The film festival staff is looking for volunteers to help get the unnamed festival off the ground. Please inquire at the screening if you are interested in getting involved. PUFF has previously screened Greg Lamberson’s KILLER RACK and Chris LaMartina’s CALL GIRL OF CTHULHU from Camp Motion Pictures, with many more screenings of exciting new horror films to come.
