Juliet Landau is no stranger to popular blood suckers. The actress and voice artist is perhaps best known for playing the psychotic and psychic vampire Drusilla in 17 episodes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and 7 episodes of spin-off series “Angel,” which collectively ran from 1997 to 2004. Landau has kept busy since playing the vampire who killed Kendra with roles in Fatal Reunion, Hack! and Haunted Echoes while also lending her voice to “Ben 10: Alien Force” and “Green Lantern: The Animated Series.” Still, the former Saturn Award Nominee has been unable to shake the role that propelled her to stardom…and now she’s giving back to her fan-base.
Earlier this month, Juliet announced that she would be producing a two-part documentary series with her husband, Deverill Weekes, and the project will focus on the two parts of the popular vampire phenomenon. Part 1, titled A Place Among the Dead, will follow the true-crime nature of the beast, when people take the idea of becoming a vampire too far and blur the lines of fun and assault/homicide. Part 2, titled A Place Among the Undead, will follow vampires in pop culture, from classic vampires like Dracula to the unfortunate occurrence that was Twilight.
The two part documentary is hoping to include commentary from Joss Whedon, Tim Burton, Gary Oldman, Willem DaFoe, Anne Rice, Robert Patrick, Charlaine Harris, Kevin Grevioux, Stephen Woolley, David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf, Cole Haddon, Tom Holland, Mariana Klaveno, Steve Niles, Kim Newman, Georges Jeanty, Christopher Golden and Caroline Munro.
In the coming months Landau and Weekes will launch an IndieGoGo campaign in hopes of raising $450,000 towards the film’s budget. Follow the film on Facebook or sign up for newsletters at the documentary’s official site for all the latest updates.
