The Killing Floor 2 Review

KillingFloor2-1

Tripwire Interactive is back with a more zombie slaying fun in Killing Floor 2. I was able to get a badass sneak peak at the game, as well a teaser to a live action film based on the series.

Killing Floor originally started as a mod from Unreal Tournament 2004 back in 2005, The developers instantly fell in love with the mod and contacted the creators of the mod for the rights. In 2009 Killing Floor was officially a stand alone game. Since its official release, fans have been going crazy for a sequel to the smash hit. On May 8th of this year Tripwire Interactive replied with Killing Floor 2 being announced. I was very fortunate to play the instant hit.

The game takes place one month in Continental Europe after the events of the first game as the company Horzine has hired mercenaries to clean up their mess. The first level I played was the revamped version of the classic map Biotics Lab. Now normally I would play on normal difficulty to get a feel of the game but I was feeling confident about playing on hell on earth difficulty due to hours of practicing on KF1. I was proven wrong immediately, I was surrounded by the zeds in a matter of seconds.  So I brought it down to hard mode just so I could have a chance. The developers did an amazing job with the zeds AI, to insure that you’ll be having a tough time surviving. New additions that are included in KF2 are a new body damage mechanic called M.E.A.T which allows you to eviscerate the zeds, adding more frames to the weapons to give them a more realistic shooting animation, a new mechanic that allows the blood to stay on the level without compromising the frames per second in game (so get ready to paint the town red), new weapons, new maps, a new boss which will be left unnamed and the return of the SDK mod suport. The soundtrack in game includes tracks from the artist Zynthetic and other great artists, so you can insure that you will be rocking out while slaying zeds. This game is perfect for fans of fast paced co-op zombie games, and fans of challenging games, so bring some friends (You’ll need them). It replay value is surprisingly high.

Currently Killing Floor 2 is available on steam as early access for $29.99, and the full release of Killing Floor 2 will be available later in 2015 for Windows, Linux, and Playstation 4.
