80s singer Samantha Fox joins cast of novel to film adaption, A Study in Red.

FoxSamanthaIf you were into dance-pop music in the late 1980s, then you have to be familiar with the tunes of Samantha Fox. From 1986 to 1989 she ruled the charts in England, Finland, Germany and even had a couple hits in America like “Touch Me (I Want Your Body),” “Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)” and “I Only Wanna Be with You.” She has continued to release new music to this day, with her last single “The Secret” having seen release in 2011, but her career has also swayed into the realm of television appearances and occasional acting. Now, horror fans will get a chance to revisit the greatness of The Fox as it is rumored that Samantha has joined the cast of A Study in Red: The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper.

The former Page 3 supermodel is rumored to play the supporting role of Jennifer Reid in A Study in Red, the film adaption of Brian L. Porter’s 2008 novel of the same name. The horror-thriller is expected to head into principal photography later this year as the script is finished, casting has been ironed out and ThunderBall Films has a $5,200,000 budget to bring this story to life. It appears that all this production is waiting on is the right direction and a list of shooting dates. Being that A Study in Red is being shot around England and given that so many people are a fan of the notorious Jack the Ripper, it should be interesting to see where this one ends up!

A Study in Red: The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper will also star Charlotte Milchard, Jack O’Halloran, Michael Higgs, Jeff Stewart and Danny Midwinter.

Robert Cavendish, a modern day psychiatrist, is bequeathed a strange set of papers which purport to be the journal of the long-dead infamous Whitechapel Murderer whose crimes gripped the hearts and minds and instilled terror on the streets of Victorian London. As he begins to read the journal, Robert becomes convinced of it’s authenticity and finds that the words of the Ripper have a strange and compelling effect on him. Unable to cast the pages aside he finds himself being drawn into the dark and sinister world of the killer until he is unable to distinguish what is fact and what is fantasy. In short, Robert Cavendish begins to feel as though he is being taken over in some way by the soul of the long-dead Ripper. What happens as he progresses through the journal will disturb and shock the reader as the close dividing line between sanity and madness is explored to the fullest.
