Tune in for an all-new episode of WGN America’s breakout hit supernatural thriller “Salem” this SUNDAY, April 19 at 10:00 pm ET / 9:00 pm CT.  The second season premiere of “Salem” on April 5 expanded its audience with strong Live + 3 gains climbing to 1.5 million total viewers, which ranks as this season’s highest lift across all new and returning premieres on cable among Adults 18-49.

In “From Within,” written by Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, and directed by Alex Zakrewski — A recent adversary attempts to unseat Mary’s position on the town council, leading her to resort to making a risky play in her bid to maintain control of the town.  Meanwhile, as Mary tries to get closer to her son, she becomes wary of his odd behavior.  Elsewhere, Anne and Cotton find they share common ground; an earlier act of mercy may come back to haunt Mary; tensions escalate between Mary and Dr. Wainwright; and Mary and Tituba make a troubling discovery.

Season two of “Salem” returns with 13 episodes at the dawn of a Witch War, and the town’s ruthless leading witch, Mary Sibley, has just completed a legendary supernatural ritual that unleashed a devastating plague on the unsuspecting citizens of Salem.  As death and disease continue to spread through the war-torn village, Mary must face off against adversaries old and new, from within Salem and beyond, who are vying for her throne.

From creators and writers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, “Salem” is a gripping one-hour supernatural drama that boldly re-imagines the infamous 17th century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts in a world where witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem.  The series stars Janet Montgomery (“Human Target,” “Made in Jersey”), Shane West (“Nikita,” “ER”), Seth Gabel (“Arrow,” “Fringe”), Ashley Madekwe (“Revenge”), Tamzin Merchant (“Jane Eyre”), Elise Eberle (“The Astronaut Farmer”) and Iddo Goldberg (“Mob City”).  New to the cast of “Salem” for season two are Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”, “Spartacus”), Stuart Townsend (“Betrayal,” “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”), Joe Doyle (“Raw”) and Oliver Bell (“The Saint”).

Guest starring in “From Within” are Michael Mulheren as George Sibley, Hank Harris as Corwin, Sammi Hanratty as Dollie, Jeremy Crutchley as Hathorne, Henri Lubatti as Thomas Eliot and Thomas Francis Murphy as Rev. Lewis.

“Salem” is executive produced by Brannon Braga, Adam Simon, Josh Barry, Jeff Kwatinez, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson.  Nick Copus directs and serves as co-executive producer.  Filmed on location in Shreveport, Louisiana, the series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
