The new vampire comic from Hashtag Comics is a series we’ve been covering here and are really excited about. Carpe Noctem is the “Kitchen Sink” of monster comics, and features all manner of creatures from Vampires to Zombies. Read on for more details below.

From The Press Release

Hashtag Comics, a new comic book publisher, proudly announces its breakout horror series, Carpe Noctem. The full-color series, written by Martin Dunn and co-written with artwork by Derrick Fish, is set in Las Vegas, NV and has been referred to by reviewers as the “Kitchen Sink” of monster books. Carpe Noctem blends sarcastic, dark humor with dramatic storytelling and buckets of gruesome blood and guts. Horror fans, especially those with an affinity for the supernatural, will find a refreshingly different take on everything from Vampires to Zombies, and Lovecraftian creatures to Tolkien-esque races.

Carpe Noctem follows writer Chelsea Nobles as she’s thrown into the tumultuous underworld of Las Vegas, imbued with the ancient powers of a Scribe, and assigned the task of documenting the exploits of notorious Sin City entrepreneurs, Jace and Dante Rivera. The brothers, always at odds, are descended from an ancient vampire Goddess. Readers will experience their mysterious world of horror and fantasy through Chelsea’s eyes, learning all about the brothers as she does.

Carpe Noctem is the comic book adaptation of a film concept and screenplay created by Hashtag Comics’ founder Drew Crowder. Originally set for the big screen now re-imagined by Dunn and Fish in comic book form, unleashing a whole new world on fans of supernatural thrillers and the horror genre in general.

Dunn and Fish have recently worked with IDW Publishing on its Star Mage series, and are thrilled to be working together again on Carpe Noctem. This series allows their creative energy and teamwork a chance to shine. Fish, who in the past has worked on titles for Image and Red 5 comics brings his grittiest and most stunning artwork to the table, giving fans something into which they can really sink their teeth. The coloring really makes the artwork pop, which is handled in brilliant detail by Challenging Studios (Marvel Icon’s Painkiller Jane), for an all-around thrilling visual experience.

A launch party for issue 1 is scheduled to take place at Heroes Haven Comics in Tampa, Florida on May 30th, 2015 from noon till 6pm. Both Dunn and Fish will be on hand to sign and talk with fans.

That weekend, publisher and series creator Drew Crowder will be at AwesomeCon in Washington, DC at the Hashtag Comics booth signing and selling convention exclusive variants and showcasing a special sneak peek of issue 2!
