120330Candy-Clark2Candy Clark was born in the state of Oklahoma in 1947. She began modeling at the age of 18 and by the time she ended her career in that business she was more than ready to start a longer career as an actress. Her first credited role was a guest spot on “Room 222” in 1972 which she quickly followed up with a lead role in the Oscar Nominated feature Fat City (1972). The following year she played a supporting character in another Oscar Nominated feature, American Graffiti, where she was also nominated for a Best Support Actress Oscar.

Her career hit a lull for a while following the nomination, but that all changed when she booked parts in scifi’s The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and Starcrash (1978), followed by the less well received sequel, More American Graffiti (1979). After being featured in comedy’s National Lampoon’s Movie Madness in 1982, she landed the lead role in scifi’s Q (1982) and a part in the Oscar Nominated scifi-thriller, Blue Thunder (1983). Her first big role in a horror film came as the supporting role of “Melanie” in Amityville Horror 3D in 1983. Two years later she’d do another horror flick, 1985’s Cat’s Eyes.

For the next couple of years she mostly worked as a guest star on various television shows including “Simon & Simon,” Magnum PI,” “Deadly Nightmares,” and “Matlock.” She would return to horror, though, in 1988 as “Fran” in The Blob remake of 1988. Then in 1992 she played Kristy Swanson’s mother in the cult classic Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She’d bounce back to television again and finish out the century with guest roles on “The Wright Verdicts,” “Aaahhh!!! Real Monsters,” and “Baywatch Nights.”

So, where is Candy Clark now?

She kicked off the new millennium playing “Marge” in slasher flick Cherry Falls (2000). After another lull in her career, she returned to the limelight playing the role of “Carol” in Zodiac (2007). She did two more horror films after that, horror-comedy The Boneyard Collection (2008) and short Cry of the Mummy (2009). She next appeared in the LGBT film Bob’s New Suit in 2011, followed by a small recurring role on “Criminal Minds” in 2012 and 2014. Her next feature, due in 2015, is a mystery-thriller titled Cold Moon from Griff Furst.
