Having worked in the entertainment business for over a decade now, you may recognize Steve West from such films as ‘Patient 17’, ‘Dark Space’, ‘Best Night Ever’ or his stint as Jules on the hit television show ‘Mad Men.’ Horror buffs will probably remember him as Stan in the cult classic ‘Seed of Chucky’ which he starred alongside Jennifer Tilly. With the experience of being tormented by a killer doll named Chucky, working alongside Don Draper and surviving a bachelor party, he is ready to take on a completely new role and medium. On February 20, 2015 the London native will make his video game debut as the protagonist, Sir Galahad, in PlayStation®4’s ‘The Order:1886.’
Discussing his role in the game Steve says, “Having working on ‘The Order: 1886’ for over two and a half years I believe for an actor, performance capture is currently one of the most exciting areas to work in. It’s a melding of all the mediums. The heightened elements of stage work, the plot lines, technicalities and filming schedule (i.e. filming scenes non chronologically) of TV and film and the specific vocal demands of voice over so that you can completely bring these characters to life.”
“Working over the course of two and a half years technology would change and therefore the boundaries of what we could film would expand and evolve. This would also affect the script and the lives of our characters. The director, Ru Weerasuriya, would also add and change things as he saw us ‘becoming’ these characters, it was a very organic process in many ways.”
“It was also surprising how easily you forgot that you are all in these odd looking suits covered with balls on a massive sound stage with light sensors everywhere AND your own mini camera right in front of your face. I found myself transported to really being that knight of the round table in the 1800s fighting Lycans! I really don’t think any of us doubted it for a second! I guess my only hope now is that people love it as much as we did because I can’t wait to see Galahad get back out there and continue the story.”
