“Salem” is one of the best scripted shows on WGN America based on the reviews that I’ve read, but it’s a little bit of an enigma because no one really knows that it exists. The historical fantasy/adventure debuted to solid numbers – over one and a half million viewers – but viewership had dwindled by 75% by the time the show reached its episode 13 season finale. Despite the low finish, WGN America renewed “Salem” for a second season with the hopes of sprucing up the show and making it more appealing to new and returning viewers.

“Salem” is slated to return to broadcast on WGN America sometime in April 2015. Season two will consist of another thirteen original episodes that follow the Salem Witch Trials from the 17th Century and their repercussions on the romance between Janet Montgomery (Black Swan, Wrong Turn 3) and Shane West (“ER”, “Nikita”). It is believed that Adam Simon and Brannon Braga returned as show runners and have crafted the show’s upcoming season in a darker manner.

In promotion of the show’s upcoming season Twentieth Century Fox and WGN America released a season two teaser trailer for “Salem.” And it’s safe to say season two appears better and more screwed up than season one based on the preview. Find it below.
