Sources including Variety are reporting that cult actress Olivia Hussey has passed away. Details about the event remain private at this time, however, Ms. Hussey was 73-years-old at the time of her death.
A quote, provided by Variety, was posted to her social media accounts on Friday, December 27, to share the unfortunate news:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Olivia Hussey Eisley, who went peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on December 27th. Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom, and pure kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Olivia lived a life full of passion, love, and dedication to the arts, spirituality and kindness towards animals.
The British Argentinian actress is most known for playing the lead role as Jess Bradford in Black Christmas (1974). Black Christmas is the first full-fledged slasher flick, even pre-dating Halloween. Due to this measure and its effect on mainstream horror in general, it quickly became a cult favorite and later spawned two reboots.
Although she’s most known within the horror genre, she also received wide acclaim for roles in Romeo & Juliet as well as Death on the Nile. Her other horror film credits can be found in Virus, Psycho IV: The Beginning, IT, Ice Cream Man, The Gardener and Head Space.
Her last role on record was a very small gig in Social Suicide (2015).
