David Dorfman. Horror actor turned acclaimed attorney.
Mr. Dorfman started his career as a performer in the late 1990s. He booked a number of small parts in equally obscure movies, which eventually led him to the sets of ‘Panic’ and ‘Galaxy Quest.’ By the turn of the century, he transitioned to more of a television star following a recurring role on ‘Family Law’ ending in 2002. That’s when he almost became a huge scream king.
David co-starred in ‘The Ring’ and ‘The Ring 2’ as Aiden. Both films opened in the #1 spot at the box office and kickstarted one of the more recent horror icons with Samara. Then, he co-starred as Jedidiah in the remake of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’ This reboot became David’s third horror film hit, as it also debuted at #1 and introduced new fans to Leatherface. These contributions to the genre happened in just a span of three years.
After these accomplishments, his career appears to have stalled a bit – or he was deciding to scale his schedule down to focus on other opportunities. Following titles like ‘Joan of Arcadia’ and ‘Drillbit Taylor,’ David booked his final appearances in the horror-comedy series ‘Zombie Roadkill.’ Although he would formally retire from acting in 2010, he did manage to book a background gig in an episode of ‘Game of Thrones.’
Now Mr. Dorfman, age 31, works as an attorney after graduating from Harvard Law School. Google lists the average attorney salary in California as $90,000. Basically, Dorman is still making good money every year instead of struggling to book gigs as a working actor. I think he may surprise fans with pop appearances at other points in the future, but for now I guess you’ll just have to rely on his previous horror hits for inspiration.
