In Europe there is a certain Domiziano Cristopharo, and in the United States a certain Jon Devlin… but what do they have in common? Well, both of them, in their respective geographic areas, have been nicknamed “PENIS GUY,” given their natural propensity to use nudity as artistic expression… and the clash/encounter was sooner or later inevitable, and it spawned PHALLACIES – the movie.
Art and cinema have always been not only forms of entertainment, but also a social mirror for messages and revolutions; today, censorship has been abolished to make way for a disturbing sense of moralism, which is forging minds toward self-castration in order to survive: Amazon and Barnes&Noble have started banning the sale of artistic nude books, censorship of video platforms has hit after Youtube also Vimeo, and (most insane and frightening) there are factories that refuse to print magazines or Blu-rays with explicit content… DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? Not only is freedom of expression in general at risk, but the end is being decreed for all independent artists and small labels that do not want to follow mainstream policies. With the bans imposed by Facebook and Twitter even just talking about Horror brings posts down in the feed, making them invisible.
PHALLACIES – the movie is not just a movie: it is a collective of rebellious artists who put not
only their souls into what they do… but also their bodies, since always and this time even more so
(and it is SIGNIFICANT that the filmmakers also ACT in their segments).
11 short films ranging from extreme to gore, animation to quirky comedy and disturbing drama: the theme? The penis. No censorship, no moralism:
PHALLACIES is the first DICKSPLOITATION film ever made.
Why this theme? The connection that bigoted and well-thinking European audiences make between nudity and eroticism has its basis in a millennial process that began in the West with the birth of the Catholic Church, an institution for which sexuality was to be lived only according to certain norms of behavior and treated only in the context of marriage for procreative purposes.
