Writer/Director Christopher Morvant’s Award Winning Independent Science Fiction Film, LIFE CYCLE, Comes to Novelization!

(ORANGE COUNTY, CA | APRIL 29, 2024) – Jed Rowen has been acting for close to 30 years. You may have seen him in in The Ghastly Love of Johnny X as Sluggo, or in Space Wars as the Mighty Manx. Or maybe as the title character in Pretty Boy, Axegrinder or The Electric Man. If none of those ring a bell, maybe you saw him in Full Moon’s notorious Giantess Attack vs. Mecha Fembot as the hapless General Kilgore, or Gordon in the postapocalyptic Impact Event, or the goofy photographer in That’s A Wrap.

Still nothing, huh?

Well, if you missed him Piranhaconda on Syfy or didn’t notice his voice in Camel Spiders, maybe you noticed him in Eruption L.A.? (He was the guy leading the charge in all camo with a machine gun.)

OK, if none of these strike a chord, this will do it, yes he was Detective Ray Garton in the notorious worldwide phenomenon The Amazing Bulk. There we go, now you know who we’re talking about.

DISC-OVERY, the debut novel from Jed Rowen, has been a labor of love for over a decade. It was an idea that presented itself after Rowen discovered the joys of Disc Golf. Mix in his B-movie experience in Hollywood, and the idea became the catalyst for Jed to finally write his first novel.

“When I’d see my movies screen at film fests, or get a Blockbuster release (remember those), or win an acting award, the little imp of the perverse would unceasingly nag me…where is your novel, dude?” explains Rowen. “I lived this novel. Well, maybe not the aliens. But definitely the disc golf. And definitely everything that went along with playing this wonderful sport. The friendships and camaraderie. The competition. Being out in nature. The glory of hitting an ace. The booze. DISC-OVERY is my nod to ‘The Drunk Novel,’ a subgenre popularized by Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. DISC-OVERY is Hemingway translated into genre.”

“To my knowledge, DISC-OVERY is the world’s first Disc Golf novel. Throw in some mystery, some conspiracies, shake it up with UFOs, aliens, and Shadow Government Agents…well, now you have my attention.” says Sean Duregger, Managing Editor of Encyclopocalypse. “DISC-OVERY is very unique, a genre novel that rises above all the expected tropes and ultimately is a very human novel. Something I think we all can connect with.”

DISC-OVERY follows Jeff, who has recently left behind both a scandal-plagued venture capitalist career along with his estranged wife as he sets out to find out more about his deceased brother. Jeff discovers more than he bargained for as he digs deep into his brother’s secret life as a mercenary and his involvement in a secret government flying saucer program at a mysterious lab in Pasadena…which just so happens to be a distance driver’s throw to a disc golf course where a sultry Swedish hustler rules the holes.

Jeff travels through space and time, ventures to underground bases and battles government agents in his quest to find the truth about his brother. Along the way, he also manages to get in a lot of disc golf while disc-overing himself and what real friendship is.

On July 9th 2024, DISC-OVERY will be available wherever books are sold.
