Witching Season Films has announced that its second Utah-made feature film, He Never Left, will receive its world premier at the highly-rated Filmquest Film Festival (where it has received four award-nominations), and its international premier during the second block of the world-renowned Frightfest Film Festival in London.
Written and directed by James Morris, He Never Left tells the story of Gabriel, a fugitive on the run from the U.S. Marshals. With the help of his girlfriend, Carly, Gabriel takes refuge in an old motel. However, after hearing strange noises coming from an adjoining room, the two inadvertently become the targets of the notorious “Pale Face” killer, whose legend has haunted the local community for decades.
He Never Left stars veteran actor Colin Cunningham (falling Skies, Stargate SG1, Preacher), who met Morris at the Horrorfest Film Festival in St. George Utah, during the fall of 2020. After reading an early draft of the screenplay, Cunningham worked closely with Morris and Witching Season Films founder, Michael Ballif, as they prepared for production.
“It’s so incredibly validating that the film is already getting this much positive attention” says Morris “Having our debut screenings at such awesome festivals really just helps me be at peace with everything. This movie took years, and a lot of very talented people to create, and I’m just glad we are finally here.”
With the film hitting the festival circuit this fall, and also screening at the Fright Night Film Festival, Hot Springs Horror Festival, and Ethereal Horror Festival, Witching Season Films hopes to have the project released sometime in 2024.
