News just broke that former actress Sharon Farrell has passed away.

The official statement, short but sweet, came from her sister on Facebook. You can view it here.
Sharon enjoyed a four-decade long career in Hollywood. Originally a ballet dancer, she found sustainable employment mostly in television. However, being that this is a horror website, she is most known to genre fans for co-starring in co-star It’s Alive (1974), The Premonition (1975), The Fifth Floor (1978) and Night of the Comet (1984). She also appeared in 3 episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Hour and 1 episode of Freddy’s Nightmares.
She retired from showbusiness in 1999 but returned for a brief stint on indie television series Broken at Love in 2013. During that time, she released an autobiography that you can find online.
Her other big role, though outside of horror, was a six-year stint on The Young and the Restless as Florence Webster from 1991 to 1997.
Ms. Farrell’s cause of death is currently unknown, and it’s also unclear why news of her death is only breaking about three months later.
Either way, we wish her family, friends and fans our condolences during this difficult time. May she rest in peace…
