As we all know, COVID-19 destroyed the film and cinema industry in 2020. Major releases were either delayed, sent to television, still awaiting release or sent to limited theaters. Because of this, sales at the movie theater dropped by a whopping 81.6% when looking at 2019.
Still, a few titles were released before the major shut-downs in March, and independent films were able to find a strong fanbase without a cluttered marquee.
