Late last night I learned through social media that cult movie actress, theatre extraordinaire and comedian Beverly Bonner had passed away. No cause of death was revealed at the time, but the news was confirmed by her former director, Frank Henenlotter.
On Facebook, Frank wrote, “I’m on the phone with Beverly [Bonner] a few weeks ago and she’s gushing nonstop about how much she loved directing her short film STEAMED, and how she is already writing the script for her next one, and going on and on until she abruptly concludes by saying we really need to get together soon so she can give me some Directing Tips. A pause. Then her inevitable burst of loud laughter. God, I’m going to miss her. She was a warm, loving, hardworking, generous and very funny person who, no matter the obstacles, kept on going. Our friendship lasted 40 years. Losing her is really crushing. Keep the angels laughing, Bev.”
She starred as Casey in Basket Case, Basket Case 2 and Basket Case 3. Beverly also appeared in Massage Parlor Massacre, Brain Damage, Frankenhooker, Bad Biology, One for the Road and Black Friday Subliminal.
