Such sad news to report today, and during the holiday season no less. The Sleeper was one of the first bigger releases I received to review when I started working for HorrorSociety.com many moons ago. The movie is a classic slasher flick, and a major part of this includes the typical final girl, Amy, played by actress Brittany Belland. I can honestly say that Brittany was an integral part in making The Sleeper so successful. She was relate-able, talented, and just the kind of girl you want to root for. Well, I’m still rooting for her today; hoping that she finally finds much deserved peace. It’s starting to get around social media this afternoon that Ms. Belland passed away on Wednesday, November 21st 2018. I am keeping her cause of death out of this article with respect for Brittany and her family.
After starring in The Sleeper, Brittany went on to star in a handful of nationally broadcast commercials and a number of scifi/fantasy titles including Lessons in Accidental Magic, The Many Monsters of Sadness and Other Versions of You. Last year, she took on the horror genre once again by starring in Clowntergeist as Emma. More importantly, beginning last year, Brittany started bringing her own visions to life and wrote, directed and produced her own short projects Mommy Issues and Bike 4 Sale. Her last role, as Emily in horror-thriller Anachronic, is due out in 2019. Her costars, friends, and management team are posting tributes to her online in light of this loss. Truly, the indie horror scene has been dealt a devastating blow.
All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to her family, friends and fans. She was too young to be gone so soon.
