Born in Texas in August 1942, Camilla Carr had an interesting run in Hollywood. She first burst onto the scene as one of S.F. Brownrigg’s IT GIRLS; appearing in his horror films as Harriet in Don’t Look in the Basement (1973), as Sarah Pickett in Scum of the Earth (1974) and as Leslie Fontaine in Keep My Grave Open (1977). When she was done with the horror genre, Camilla found herself working bit parts in a number of hit films. These titles include 2x Oscar Nominee Logan’s Run (1976), Emmy Winner Madame X (1981), Golden Globe Nominee Making Love (1982) and 2x Emmy Nominee My Wicked Wicked Ways (1985). From 1987 to 1988, she made guest appearances on television shows like “A Year in the Life,” “Designing Women” and “Falcon Crest” before quietly retiring from Hollywood.
So, where is Camilla Car Now?
After leaving the performance world behind, she was able to start a new career behind-the-scenes in the realm of writing. Also an accomplished play-write, Camilla has written three movies so far; dramas Escape from Terror (1995) and Nobody Lives Forever (1998), as well as 2006’s mystery-thriller Cheaters’ Club. She even served as an associate producer on 2014’s Liz in September. A fiction and literary novelist to boot, she’s published three novels so far including Topsy Dingo Wild Dog, Packard Jordan’s Final Appeal and The Sky is Always There with Jonathan James. Most importantly, Camilla briefly came out of acting retirement in 2015 to appear in Don’t Look in the Basement 2 in a new role. The movie was directed by S.F.’s son, Anthony Brownrigg.
