It looks like author and poet Darren Field is continuing his annual Halloween tradition of releasing his original work as short films on YouTube. I should have known something was coming when I saw homemade, miniature sets lighting up his Instagram page. And that’s what’s so awesome about his short films. Not only do they include glimpses into his written works, but they also feature stop motion animation, practical effects, silly and creepy musical scores, and A-list voice-overs from horror industry professionals.
This year’s Vault of the Macabre Halloween compilation, The House Upon The Hill, is a three story bundle introduced by “Thundercats” voice-over star Larry Kenney. The short film features stories – Betty Rose Nivens’ Halloween as narrated by Hellraiser and Nightbreed hit-maker Clive Barker; Nathaniel as narrated by Full Metal Jacket and Independence Day star Adam Baldwin; and The House Upon the Hill as narrated by “True Blood” and new series “The Gifted” star Stephen Moyer.
It also features a live appearance by James Unsworth and music by Russell Bell.
