Despite four star reviews from critics and fans, slasher series – titled… um… “Slasher” – was cancelled by Chiller in April 2016. It didn’t come as a shock to chart watchers, considering the show was seeing an average of just 79,000 live viewers per episode. But as we’re learning more and more these days, just because a good show receives the metaphorical ax, it doesn’t mean it’ll stay dead forever.
Revival juggernaut NETFLIX acquired the rights to “Slasher” and, unbeknownst to me, went into production of season two in May 2017. The horror television series produced by Shaftesbury Films will air exclusively as a NETFLIX original and it becomes available to streamers TODAY – October 17, 2017. Here’s your opportunity to watch “Slasher: Guilty Party” in time for Halloween!
“Slasher: Guilty Party” features a lead and supporting cast comprised of Leslie Hope (“24,” “Suits”), Paula Brancati (“Degrassi”), Christopher Jacot (“Eureka”), Dean McDermott (“Power Play”), Joanne Vannicola, Jeffrey Brown, Rebecca Liddiard, Melinda Shankar, Sebastian Pigott, Ty Olsson and Simu Liu. Some of the cast-members are returning players, meaning season two could be a direct continuation of the original material from the Chiller run.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, the eight new episodes will follow, “a group of former summer camp counselors who are forced to return to the isolated campground to retrieve evidence of a crime they committed in their youth. Before long the group, and the camp’s latest inhabitants, members of a spiritual retreat with their own secrets to hide, find themselves targeted by someone – or something – out for horrific revenge.”
