Damian Maffei is the man, but is he the man behind the mask in The Strangers 2? Maffei’s been on my radar for a few years now and I think he’s one of the brightest stars in the horror and science fiction genres after starring in Frank Sabatella shorts Night of the Pumpkin and The House That Cried Blood as well as features Closed for the Season and Christmas with the Dead. He also starred in another short, Wildfires, which was written and directed by Jon D. Wagner, which adds even more credibility to my theory that he’s involved with The Strangers 2.
Early this afternoon, Mr. Maffei posted a photo of himself, a mystery woman, Johannes Roberts and Lewis Pullman at a screening of 47 Meters Down at a movie theater in Kentucky. Here’s where all the pieces start falling into place. Johannes Roberts is directing the highly anticipated Strangers sequel and Lewis Pullman is co-starring in the new home-invasion flick. And, according to sources like Variety and The River City news, The Strangers 2 is currently in the middle of principal photography in Kentucky. And where does the Jon D. Wagner connection come in? Well, IMDB has him listed as line producer on the new movie and it’s possible he recommended Maffei for the job.
Could they be on a break from filming?
Boom!
While nothing has been officially announced yet, a look over of Damian’s Facebook page confirms that he has been filming something out of state for several weeks – which is why I’ve been glued to his page searching for clues. I think it’s safe to say that he will appear in The Strangers 2 in a major capacity, and I’m thrilled about this. I’ve recognized his talent for years and now the world will get to recognize it, too. And if I’m wrong, at least I got to put my investigative journalism skills to use.
