LOST GIRLS: THE PHANTASMAGORICAL CINEMA OF JEAN ROLLIN adds a foreword by Rollin star Françoise Pascal for its final week of crowdfunding!
LOST GIRLS: THE PHANTASMAGORICAL CINEMA OF JEAN ROLLIN, the new book from Canadian micro-publisher Spectacular Optical, is in its final week for crowdfunding, with an Indiegogo campaign that ends on May 17th. Curated and edited by Samm Deighan, the book is the first to look at the career of the French horror and fantasy director from the perspective of an all-female roster of critics, scholars and film historians.
It has just been confirmed that Françoise Pascal, the star of Rollin’s beloved 1973 film La rose de fer (The Iron Rose) will write the foreword to the book.
This week saw the addition of a new perk that belong to Jean Rollin himself – a copy of Alexander Eliot’s 1976 book L’Universe fantastique des mythes for which Rollin’s wife Simone, an ardent and eloquent feminist in her own right, provided the French translation. The book was donated by the Rollin estate specifically for the Indiegogo campaign.
Other special perks still available in the campaign include ‘Château des Enigmes’ – a limited edition Jean Rollin-themed Mystery boardgame featuring artwork by the book’s cover artist Jessica Seamans – and the ‘Tour de sang’, a three-day guided tour to eight of Rollin’s iconic film locations, including chateaux, cemeteries and his beloved Dieppe beach.
The project surpassed its initial goal and has added a stretch goal that, if met, will allow for an additional 40 pages of images in the book as well as an upgrade to the boardgame that will see its weapons pieces sculpted in cold-cast metal by FX artist Dan Martin (FREE FIRE, HIGH RISE, A FIELD IN ENGLAND, HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 etc).
