Short of the Week: “AM1200” (2008)

Lovecraft meets Silent Hill

Hello fellow bon vivants of the bizarre, it’s Thakgore and today I bring you a spectacularly realized vision of Lovecraftian perfection. “AM1200” is about a man, running from the consequences of a disastrous choice, that gets caught in the web of an otherworldly presence.

Directed and written by documentarian David Prior,  “AM1200” is one of the most tense experiences I’ve had with a film in recent memory. There are genuinely creepy scenes that had me holding my breath, with my skin crawling with anticipation. Paced marvelously, the film never drags and will keep you totally engaged throughout, right up until it blindsides you with its awesome finale. I highly recommend it as it is a film that deserves to be seen and talked about. A superb entry into the vast Lovecraft canon. Below is a trailer and you can find the full film on Vimeo by following this link.

Thakgore

Horror fan since childhood. Also, a stay at home Dad, layabout and general rapscallion. Purveyor of all things diabolical, devious and dire as well as loquacious lover of ludicrous alliteration and bold balladeer of bellicose buffoonery. Master of the run-on sentence.
