Horror franchises aren’t known for their continuity. This isn’t news. Horror timelines are some of the most disregarded and screwed up messes in all of film making. When sitting down to make a new entry in a horror series the last thing anyone ever wants to think about, for some reason, is preserving the timeline. It’s something that has always perplexed me. Is it because new writers don’t want to be beholden to a previously set canon? Is it because they have new ideas and don’t want to be bothered to try and make them plausible? Or is it because, as I suspect, they think we are too stupid to realize their omissions, or outright mistakes? I’m not sure, but no one can deny that making any sense out of most of them is a Herculean task that only the most dedicated of horror fans would attempt. Today, I want to introduce you to that hero.
Meet Josh Spiegel, purveyor of the “Movie Timelines” Youtube channel. Josh is the epitome of a horror nut. He grew up in Pennsylvania right near the graveyard from the original “Night of the Living Dead”, he worked at the mall where they filmed “Dawn of the Dead” and currently is living right down the street from the Myers house from “Halloween”. This man has spent a lifetime surrounded by horror and it clearly has had an effect. His passion for the genre is evidenced by the exhaustive research he puts into each of his videos and I am more than impressed by his drive to make sure he brings you the most accurate representation of each series’ continuity. He even sat through the entire “Puppetmaster” series to make sure his information was correct for that video. That means he had to watch “Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys” and let me tell you that is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
I really hope you give his channel a look and maybe even sub him up. He deserves the attention for the informative and entertaining horror content he’s putting out. For example, check out this video he did on the “Friday the 13th” timeline, and then head on over and check out his other videos because he’s only getting better with each new one.
