The Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival is proud to announce two exciting partnerships with our upcoming film festival this October. PUFF has teamed up with The Monster Channel to offer filmmakers the opportunity to have their short films streamed on https://monsterchannel.tv as part of a collection of standout shorts from the PUFF program. Selected shorts films will not only be screened to the festival audience in the theater but filmmakers will also have the option to have their films showcased on The Monster Channel at a later date.
“The goal of our festival is not only to bring great unreleased films to Philadelphia, but also help upcoming filmmakers connect with a wider audience and industry professionals,” explained PUFF co-director Madeleine Koestner. “Our partnership with The Monster Channel offers filmmakers the opportunity to have their films viewed by a larger audience, and gain more exposure after the fest.”
The Monster Channel is an expertly programmed web channel that streams classic and not-so-classic horror movies, forgotten television shows, short films, and more. Old school and new horror fans can access the 24 hour streaming network via their laptop, PC, mobile device, or Roku set-top-box. The goal of The Monster Channel is to recreate the vibe of the great era of independent television, the local TV station, the UHF channel and the progressive public access channel of the 70s/80s/90s.
“Younger horror fans may not remember the fun of watching midnight movies, but they do understand the power of streaming. The Monster Channel gives them a great platform to have their films seen by more fans of the genre,” says PUFF co-director Alex Gardner. “The Monster Channel is a fun service and we are happy to support. It’s something you can bring up on your browser just to listen to in the background, or an awesome late night option when you’re feeling overwhelmed by Netflix.”
PUFF has also partnered with the Philadelphian nonprofit, Cinema Ray for their technical expertise and projection services. Cinema Ray is the creation of Alison Silverman and Richard Campbell, known in the city for their retro movie screenings at the Ruba Room, Tattooed Mom’s and other popular Philadelphia locations. With years of local experience, this collaboration will make PUFF the not-to-be-missed event this Fall.
“I’m super excited to have teamed up with Cinema Ray. Silverman has been an important figure in the independent Philadelphia movie scene for a long time,” explains Gardner. “We are also happy to show some brotherly love and work together to put on the best film festival possible.”
The Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival is scheduled for October 6-9. The festival will kick off with an opening night party at CineMug on October 6th and end with a night of local shorts of October 9th. Filmmakers and attendees are encouraged to come out on Thursday, to network with industry professionals and the festival staff. The festival will continue on October 7 and 8th with two nights of short and feature films.
The Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival is currently accepting short and feature length film submissions until August 1st. Filmmakers can submit their films via Withoutabox or FilmFreeway.
