Sequels are usually meant to be a quick cash grab.  They sometimes pick up where the first film left off or are just a continuation of the film’s title alone (Halloween III).  Personally, I love the idea of a sequel, remake, prequel, and so on.  They usually offer up some fun while delivering more story that the first film established.

Full Moon is known for their franchises.  So many of their films become hits among horror fans and would go on to become well established horror franchises.  Full Moon has gave the world Puppet Master, Subspecies, Gingerdead Man, Killjoy, and Evil Bong.  After reviewing Evil Bong it was only logical to follow that up with it’s sequel Evil Bong II: King Bong.

**Spoiler Alert**The film follows Alistair (Chukerman) who arrives at Larnell’s new apartment.  Larnell (Jordan) called Alistair over because him, Bachman, and Brett are all experiencing problems. Since their encounter with the Evil Bong they all have experienced over-exaggerated side effects of marijuana use.  Larnell has an over active sex drive, Bachman passes out for long periods of time, and Brett has continuous munchies.

Alistair deducts that the bong is at fault and teams up with the deliver guy Rabbit (Davis) to venture to South America where the bong was purchased.  They find a young scientist that is using marijuana as a cure for cancer who tells them about a tribe known as the Poontang Tribe.  They learn that their bong was actually the queen and the answers they are looking for are inside of her king, King Bong.**Spoiler Alert**

Horror sequels can be fun if you are open to them.  So many amazing films had just as amazing sequels.  Films like Bride of Frankenstein, Fright Night II, Dawn of the Dead, Bride of Re-Animator, Friday the 13th Part II, Halloween II, and so on and on.  These films are just as good as the original.  Evil Bong 2 is a worthy follow up to the campy stoner film released by Full Moon in 2006.

The acting in this one is very similar to the first film.  Most of the cast returns as the same stoners we fell in love with in the first film but the film’s lead, David Weidoff, did not return as Alistair.  Instead we got Chukerman who did not feel the same.  I loved Weidoff in the first film and Chukerman did not feel as genuine as Weidoff.  The remainder of the cast delivered some very fun performances and kept their characters intact.

The story for this one is more of what was established in the first film but with a second bong added.  The story is written to take place is small locations to save money and could be done quickly between Band’s more bigger pictures.  The film is a little bigger in scope by the first film but it does little to add more originality to it.  The film is full of stoner humor and laughs which is the only thing that keeps us returning.

Finally, those of you looking for blood will be very disappointed.  The film has some cheap CGI but no bloodshed or gore.  Overall, Evil Bong 2: King Bong is a worthy sequel to a film that quickly gained a cult following.  The film is more comedy than horror but is still well worth your time.  Check it out!
