  • 1992 – Vanessa Morgan, stars in one of my son’s favorite shows, “My Babysitter’s a Vampire (TV Series).”
  • 1976 – Keri Russell, best known for her starring role in “Felicity (TV Series), she has also appeared in “Grimm Love”, “Dark Skies” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
  • 1966 – Marin Hinkle, who co-starred in the films “Frequency,” “The Haunting of Molley Hartley” and “Quarantine.”
  • 1965 – Richard Grieco, best known for his role as “Booker” in the TV series’ “21 Jump Street” and later in his own show “Booker.” He appeared in the films “Samhain,” “The Gardener,” “The Demolitionist” and provided the voice of “The Ghost Rider” on the animated series “The Fantastic Four.”
  • 1963 – Larry Fessenden, appeared in “Pod”, “We Are Still Here”, “The Strain (TV Series)”, “Late Phases”, “Ritual”, “Jug Face”, “The Battery”, “You’re Next”, “Stake Land”, “Session 9” and more.
  • 1963 – Lori Petty, who appeared in the films “Route 666,” “Tank Girl” and the TV series’ “Brimstone” and “Booker” (see above).
  • 1962 – Jenny Wright, who co-starred in the films “The Lawnmower Man,” “I, Madman” and “The Dark.”
  • 1957 – Amanda Plummer, who appeared in such films as “Freejack,” “Needful Things,” “The Prophecy” & “Mimic: Sentinel.”
  • 1949 – Musician Trevor Jones, who composed the scores for the films “Labyrinth,” “Dark City,” “From Hell” and “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.”
  • 1919 – The late Kenneth Tobey, who starred in many horror and sci-fi films including “The Vampire,” “The Thing From Another World” and “It Came from Beneath the Sea.”
  • 1916 – Grant Richards, who starred in the film “The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake.”
  • 1904 – The late great Joan Crawford, who starred in the films “Trog,” “Strait-Jacket” and “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane.” She also co-starred side by side with the great Lon Chaney Sr. in the 1927 silent film “The Unknown.” In the pilot film for the “Night Gallery” series, she starred in the segment entitled “Eyes,” which was helmed by fledgling director Steven Spielberg.

DIED ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY – MARCH 23

  • 2014 – Dave Brockie, lead singer of the heavy metal band “GWAR.” He also appeared in “Holliston (TV Series)”, “I Spill Your Guts”, “Empire Records” and more. He needlessly passed away from a drug overdose at the age of 50.
  • 1995 – John Ward, who appeared in the film “Spacemaster X-7″ and in episodes of the TV shows “The Twilight Zone” and “The Invaders,” passed away at the age of 71.
  • 1995 – Russell Braddon, who penned the novel “The Year Of The Angry Rabbit” on which the film “Night Of The Lepus” was based, passed away at the age of 77.
  • 1987 – Keith Richards, who appeared in the films “When Worlds Collide,” the serial “The Invisible Monster” and “The Snow Creature,” passed away at the age of 71.”
  • 1964 – Peter Lorre, who had such a unique look and voice, appeared in “M”, “Mad Love”, “You’ll Find Out”, “The Beast with Five Fingers”, “20000 Leagues Under the Sea”, “Tales of Terror”, “The Raven” and so many more passed away at the age of 59.

  1. I love the fact that you post such great information of history in our horror genre, Jenny Wright was best remembered for Near Dark and too bad the only thing we disagree on is how much I enjoyed Birds II:Lands End 1 of my favorite sequels!
