Monster man's died on this day in horror history 2

December 30

  • 2008 – – Bernie Hamilton who played “Captain Dobey” on the “Starsky & Hutch” TV series and appeared in the film “Scream, Blacula Scream,” passed away at the age of 80.
  • 1996 – Lew Ayres, who appeared in the films “Salem’s Lot,” “Damien: Omen II” and as “President Adar” on the TV series “Battlestar Galactica,.” passed away at the age of 88.
  • 1996 – Jack Nance, who starred in “Eraserhead,” “Ghoulies,” the 1988 version of “The Blob” and in the TV series “Twin Peaks” passed away at the age of 53.
  • 1992 – Romeo Muller, was a writer and producer who teamed up with Rankin & Bass to make most of the Christmas specials we all came to know and love. He was the writer of such specials as “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “The Little Drummer Boy”, “Frosty the Snowman”, “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town”, “Here Comes Peter Cottontail”, “Rudolph’s Shiny New Year”, “Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey” and many more. Is this horror related…of course not but without the contributions of Mr. Muller, my childhood and probably yours wouldn’t have been the same. He passed away at the age of 64 from a heart attack in his sleep and ironically, he died during the season that he helped to give so much joy to.
  • 1979 – Producer K. Gordon Murray, who was responsible for bringing many Mexican films to America, including “Samson vs. the Vampire Women,” “The Brainiac” and “Santa Claus,” passed away at the age of 57.
