Will Axeman II: Overkill Hack its Way to DVD in 2016?

Franchise creator Joston Theney has already expressed his interest in making Axeman a trilogy and we know that the sequel Axeman II: Overkill has already completed principal photography and much of the editing process. However, there hasn’t been any updates since a behind-the-scenes video was released to Facebook in May 2015. Axeman II: Overkill has been in post-production since the end of the summer, so I would have assumed we would have seen something from the independent production in this three month span of time. What’s the hold up?

I don’t think the problem lies with finding a distribution deal because Axeman at Cutter’s Creek was very successful in 2013 due to its star studded cast including Tiffany Shepis, Brinke Stevens, Jamie Bernadette and Elissa Dowling. Creators behind Axeman II went in a different direction with casting this time around, opting to attach more mainstream talent to the production. These talents including “Teen Mom” star and tabloid pariah Farrah Abrams, “Big Brother” legend Rachel Reilly, Michael Foster of “The Bachelorette” and “Face Off,” Angelica Bridges of “Baywatch,” Maria Olsen of Paranormal Activity 3 and former WCW Champion Bryan E. Clark.

Axeman II: Overkill will follow, “a band of crazed evangelicals, bank robbers and vigilantes who descend upon Cutter’s Creek and there’s only one local legend that can separate them… and dismember them.”

I would assume that the Axeman franchise would continue to be distributed through Midnight Releasing, but maybe they received a better deal or are shopping for a better deal; which would explain the hold up. I know I’m excited to see the new movie, as I’m sure there’s a whole bunch of HorrorSociety readers who are, too. I’ll make sure to keep things updated as we wait for Axeman II: Overkill in 2016.
