It appears as if the CW Network is trying their hand at a Weaveworld series with Clive Barker (Hellraiser) executive producing from his original novel. Barker’s horror/fantasy novel has long been thought to be unfilmmable based on the novel’s large scope, but with today’s technology it has made it possible to do on a TV budget.
The show gives a contemporary makeover to the premise of the novel, which was published in 1987. In the TV adaptation, an app designer teams up with a young pastry chef who has just discovered that she is destined to be guardian of a mythological realm that can be accessed through a portal in an old Savannah mansion. Together, they fight an epic battle with evil forces who are vying for control of the magical world.
Jack Kenny (Warehouse 13) will serve as writer/executive producer along with Angela Mancuso as an EP.
We’ll have more on this as it develops.
