“Bitten” Star Laura Vandervoort Injured During Werewolf-drama’s First Fight Sequence.

bittenbruiseAfter a successful second season, “Bitten” was officially renewed for a third season by home-channel Space in June followed by a contract extension with SyFy in July. Now, following a typical show break and pre-production scheduling, the werewolf drama originally conceived by Kelley Armstrong started filming its first scenes of season three on Tuesday. And it’s been a little bit of a bumpy ride for show star Laura Vandervoort so far. Yesterday, Vandervoort was spotting rocking a gnarly bruise on the left side of her head, near her temple.

So was it mutt or a heartbroken witch that injured the actress also known for her roles in “Goosebumps” and “Smallville?” No, quite the opposite, actually. It was a table. During the first fight sequence of season three, a set mishap – which can still happen to the most polished of coordinators – took place resulting in Miss Laura smacking her head on a table in the room. The actress who plays Elena Michaels, the only female werewolf in existence, seems to have taken the injury in stride and with pride as she commented on Instagram: “Love at first blood” and “You should see the other guy… Um table.”

“Bitten” is one of my guilt pleasures and I’m glad to see the intensity in the fight scenes are being kept so daring into the new season. Also, major props to Vandervoort for being so dedicated to her craft and rolling with the punches. That’s a rarity in many young actresses these days. Here’s wishing her a speedy recovery so she can get back to kicking some supernatural ass!
