We’re back with episode 6 of “Scream: The TV Series,” a show executively produced by Wes Craven which airs on MTV. It’s supposed to be a slasher television series, but no one has died in the last three episodes and I’m getting so incredibly bored. Counting this episode, there’s only five episodes to go until the season finale and there’s still so many teenagers and unassuming townsfolk to kill off. Maybe “a third act main cast blood math” will occur a la Scream 1 – 4? It’s certainly possible, because that’s how Wes likes to do things, but let’s hope we get a little bit of gore before then.

When we return Emma and Kieran are in the afterglow of sex, lying together in the grass in a random field. Whether it be bugs, nerves or the mind of a hormone crazed teenager, Emma thinks now is the perfect time to visit Brandon James’ home. Being that he is a local legend, of course they already know the address and arrive there just before the sun is all the way up. James’ house is boarded up and creepy, but it’s located on a residential street so it’s not too creepy to viewers. The house looks like it’s still being built, despite having been standing for dozens of years. Emma and Kieran discover a single, live daisy – an obvious nod to her mother, Maggie – and old newspaper clippings before Kieran disappears. Emma immediately knows he’s in the clutches of Ghostface and warns him/her not to hurt Kieran. There’s a quick chase scene, with Emma getting tripped up by a simple door latch a la Sydney in Scream, but eventually we discover it was all just a dream.

When Emma emerges from her room after the nightmare, she discovers Maggie macking it with Sheriff Clark in front of the front door. Why Sheriff Clark is settling for Maggie, I’ll never know. Both Emma and Maggie agree that it’s good to be happy. It’s just another typical day in Lakewood…and everyone is up to something. Piper is meeting with Will to ask him questions about Nina, eventually inviting him on her podcast so he can take responsibility for all he’s done lately. Noah and Audrey discuss the possibility that everyone in Lakewood is a suspect in the killings, and that Mr. Branson mysteriously changed his name before moving to their town. Once again we’re back to Mr. Branson’s class and the fucking scene study that has been stretching on for about four weeks now. Noah is forced to join Audrey and Will’s group since, ya know, Riley was massacred on top of the police station. Class is interrupted by Detective Brock, who has discovered very incriminating evidence on the Ghostface mask found on Tyler’s several head. She then proceeds to take Audrey into custody.

During questioning it becomes obvious that Audrey is the number one suspect in Nina’s murder, especially due to the fact that she had a personal vendetta against Nina and the only one who could vouch for her whereabouts on the night of the murder is also dead. Detective Brock is really hammering away at Audrey until Sheriff Clark shows up and begins to argue with Detective Brock about how it’s not proper procedure to question a minor without a parent or lawyer present. Although they were flirting last episode, it seems like Brock and Clark are on the outs, probably due to his budding relationship with Maggie. We meet Audrey’s dad, who could actually be the murderer himself, and Detective Brock orders a warrant to search Audrey’s home for evidence. Luckily, Audrey calls Emma and tells her to get rid of her SD card from September 30th. Now it’s a race against time. Can Emma and Noah destroy the card or will the cops get there first?

Obviously, Emma and Noah manage to steal the SD card and escape because Lakewood cops are really bad at their job. After escaping out a window, Emma and Noah view the tape, which is an angry video of Audrey vowing revenge on Nina and even vowing that she’ll never be able to bully anyone again. The video begins to make Emma and Noah question their best friend. Could she really be the killer? Why would she kill Rachel? Detective Brock theorizes that Audrey killed Nina over the make out video and then killed Rachel because she was threatening to expose her. Maggie, sensing that Emma is doubting Audrey, takes her on a road trip to…her childhood home, which is located next door to Brandon James’. Maggie comes clean with the truth and tells Emma that she and James were childhood friends. They’d leave each other notes and cards and grew up together. Emma’s dad started acting a fool in high school and Brandon went to a dance to confront him and a huge fight broke out, prompting the string of murders. Maggie knew Brandon didn’t kill anyone and asked to meet him at the lake. Unfortunately her dad found out, a sting was set up, and just as Maggie was about to comfort him the cops shot him.

Moral of the story: If Emma doesn’t believe Audrey is the killer, then she needs to stand by her 100%. Emma listens to her mother’s good advice and returns to the police station to divulge some information that she’s been keeping a secret to Brock and Clark, information that clears Audrey for now. Eventually, Brock gives up and says that the crime scene evidence was compromised when Audrey, Emma and Noah broke into the abandoned hospital and she decides to let Audrey go. Emma and Audrey embrace outside the police station. It’s a new day for their friendship.

You know who’s not friends? Jake and Will. Despite Jake being naked in the boy’s locker room and Will lifting weights alone, neither of the boys get attacked by the killer…yet. Although, Jake is pretty pissed of when he can’t find the blackmail evidence in his gym bag and nearly strangles Will with a weight bar. Will has a change of heart and meets Brooke’s father, the mayor, and gives him back the $10,000 of blackmail money and the blackmail tape. Brooke’s father leaves and Piper comes out, finding it ominous that Brooke’s father sort of referred to Will as the next victim of the killer. The duo try to leave the abandoned car mechanic’s shop, but discover they are locked in. Ghostface pops out and stabs Will in the lower stomach and knocks Piper out cold. Ghostface is about to stab Will to death, but drags him away as a hostage instead.
