From The Press Release
Legendary Canadian thrash/heavy metal masters ANNIHILATOR will release their 15th studio album, Suicide Society, worldwide on September 18, 2015 via UDR Music. The band has unleashed their brand new music video for the title track, which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/BDDdAugQZxs
In a setting which evokes the atmosphere of a sanatorium (an abandoned East German swimming pool!), Jeff Waters and co. deliver their incisive, aggressive yet curiously cathartic meditation on the state of our world’s societal consciousness.
Shot in the East of Germany, “Suicide Society” is the first video (and single) to be released by ANNIHILATOR from their upcoming same-titled album. As guitarist/singer/songwriter Jeff Waters describes: “Lyrically, the opening line says it all: Welcome to the dark side of the human race”. Originally, the song was just another subject to write about … but when I sat down and really got into it, I actually be me pretty disgusted with what we, as the human race, have done/are doing to each other, the planet and all life on it. Musically, there is a groove and riff style that I haven’t heard before in my writing; I guess that’s why this one stands out to me! We hope you like it, fellow metal fans.”

As usual, on Suicide Society, guitar wizard Jeff Waters handles all songwriting duties, plays all guitar and bass, engineers, produces, mixes and masters… and Waters is also back commanding lead vocal duties, as he did on the critically acclaimed King of the Kill(1994), Refresh the Demon (1996), Remains (1997) and other ANNIHILATOR albums over the years.
Waters on his return to vocal duties: “Dave (Padden/vocalist from 03-14) and I have, essentially, been ANNIHILATOR since 2003 but he resigned last December, citing having had enough of touring, being away from home and other commitments. I thank him for his 11 years with ANNIHILATOR. That said, ANNIHILATOR and I are known for never giving up and, occasionally, coming up with something even better than its former offering(s): this is undeniably the case with Suicide Society!”
Aside from the band’s upcoming, scheduled devastation at some of Europe’s mega-summer festivals (ex. Wacken Open Air), ANNIHILATOR will be headlining Europe this fall, and talks are underway to bring the band to South America, Japan and likely North America in 2016.
